Our dedicated team handles every detail so that your private jet experience is as seamless and comfortable for your pets as it is for you. From tailored cabin arrangements to destination-specific paperwork, we are here to make it happen.
We Handle Everything
Whether you're relocating with your golden retriever or taking a weekend getaway with your cat, Private Flights coordinates every aspect of pet travel. We liaise directly with aircraft operators to secure approval, arrange cabin configurations suited to your pet's needs, and ensure all regulatory requirements are met before departure.
Important: All pet travel requires prior approval and clearance from the aircraft operator. Please inform us about your pet when booking so we can secure the necessary permissions and prepare the cabin accordingly.
Pets in Private Aviation
Pet travel by private jet has grown significantly in recent years. More and more travellers are choosing private aviation specifically because it allows them to fly with their animals in comfort. The private jet industry has adapted to meet this demand, with many operators now offering pet-friendly cabin configurations as standard.
From relocating beloved family pets across continents to short weekend getaways, private aviation offers an unmatched experience for animal lovers. Unlike commercial airlines, where pets are often restricted by size, breed, or forced into cargo holds, private jets give you full control over the cabin environment. Your pet stays by your side from takeoff to landing.
The Benefits of Flying Privately with Your Pet
Commercial airlines can be stressful and restrictive for pets. Private aviation removes every obstacle.
No Cargo Holds
Your pet stays with you in the cabin at all times. No separation, no dark cargo compartments, just comfort and closeness.
Skip the Airport Chaos
No queues, no crowded terminals, no overwhelming noise. Arrive at a private terminal, board within minutes, and take off stress-free.
Personalised Comfort
Bring their favourite toys, beds, and blankets. We can arrange special meals, water bowls, and a controlled cabin temperature.
No Size or Breed Limits
Unlike commercial airlines with strict weight and breed restrictions, private jets welcome pets of all sizes, from teacup chihuahuas to Great Danes.
Pet Relocation Made Easy
Moving abroad? We coordinate international pet relocations, handling all documentation, veterinary certificates, and customs clearance.
Safety & Peace of Mind
The cabin is prepared to ensure the safety and well-being of your animal throughout the flight. Pet travel protocols are followed on every journey.
Tailored to Every Need
Every animal is different, and so is every journey. Whether your pet needs a quiet corner, extra floor space, or simply wants to curl up next to you, we work with our operator partners to configure the cabin to suit.
Travelling with multiple pets? No problem. Need to transport an exotic animal or arrange veterinary accompaniment? Our team has handled it all. Just tell us what you need, and we'll make it work.
Flying with Cats by Private Jet
Cats are sensitive to change, and travel can be stressful. Unlike dogs, unfamiliar sounds, vibrations, and enclosed spaces can leave them anxious. A private jet removes common stressors like crowded terminals and loud noises.
Schedule a veterinary check before flying. Your vet can advise on calming aids and provide required health certificates. Gradually acclimate your cat to their carrier at home.
Keep routines normal on travel day. Bring familiar blankets or items with your scent, avoid large meals before departure, and let our team handle the details so your cat stays comfortable.
Travel Requirements by Destination
Regulations differ depending on your destination. Below is a general overview. Our advisers will guide you through every requirement specific to your trip.
Travelling with Pets to Europe
Under EU Regulation 576/2013, non-commercial movement of dogs, cats, and ferrets between EU member states requires:
- An ISO-compliant microchip (must be implanted before rabies vaccination)
- A valid EU Pet Passport issued by an authorised veterinarian
- Up-to-date rabies vaccination (primary dose given at least 21 days before travel)
- Pet must be at least 15 weeks old at the time of travel (12 weeks minimum age for vaccination + 21-day waiting period)
- Maximum of 5 pets per person for non-commercial movement
Entering the EU from a non-EU country:
- An EU animal health certificate (not a pet passport) issued by the origin country's official veterinarian
- Pre-registration through the TRACES system may be required
- A rabies antibody titration test (minimum 0.5 IU/mL) may be needed for entry from countries not on the EU's approved list
- Entry must be through an approved Border Control Post
Travelling with Pets to the United Kingdom
Since Brexit, the UK operates its own pet travel scheme. Requirements include:
- An ISO-compliant microchip implanted before rabies vaccination
- Up-to-date rabies vaccination (pet must be at least 12 weeks old; 21-day wait after primary dose)
- An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by an Official Veterinarian, required for each journey (single-use)
- The AHC is valid for 4 months for re-entry to the UK and 10 days for entry to the EU
Dogs entering Great Britain also require:
- Tapeworm treatment with a Praziquantel-based product, administered by a vet between 24 hours and 120 hours (5 days) before arrival
- Treatment must be documented in the AHC or EU Pet Passport
- Exemption applies if travelling directly from Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Norway, or Malta
Travelling with Pets to the United States
The CDC updated its dog import regulations effective August 2024. Key requirements:
- Dogs must be at least 6 months of age
- Must have an ISO-compliant microchip
- Must appear healthy upon arrival
- A completed CDC Dog Import Form is required (submitted online; receipt valid for 6 months)
From low-risk rabies countries (including most of the EU and UK):
- The CDC Dog Import Form receipt is the primary federal requirement
- Individual US states may have additional rabies vaccination requirements
From high-risk rabies countries:
- Valid rabies vaccination certificate
- Rabies serological titer test (FAVN) from a CDC-approved laboratory showing ≥ 0.5 IU/mL
- USDA veterinary health certificate may be required
Cats: Federal requirements are significantly fewer. No CDC import form or rabies proof is required at the federal level, though individual states may have their own rules. Cats must appear healthy on arrival.
Other Destinations Worldwide
Requirements for pet travel vary significantly from country to country. Many destinations have their own import permits, quarantine periods, and health certificate requirements.
- Some countries require specific import permits that must be obtained weeks or months in advance
- Quarantine periods may apply in certain regions (e.g. Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore)
- Blood tests, additional vaccinations, or parasite treatments may be required depending on the destination
- CITES permits may be needed for certain exotic animals

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about flying with your pets on a private jet.
Absolutely. One of the greatest advantages of private jet travel is that your pet remains in the cabin with you for the entire flight. There are no cargo holds or crates required. Your companion can sit beside you, on your lap, or settle into their favourite bed. The cabin is entirely yours.
This depends on your destination. For EU travel, you'll typically need a microchip, EU Pet Passport, and up-to-date rabies vaccination. For the US, dogs require a CDC Dog Import Form and must be at least 6 months old. For the UK, an Animal Health Certificate and tapeworm treatment (for dogs) are required. Our team will provide you with a complete document checklist tailored to your specific route.
Yes. All pet travel on private jets requires prior permission and clearance from the aircraft operator. This is not optional and must be arranged before your flight. Please let us know about your pet at the time of booking so we can secure approval, prepare the cabin, and ensure a smooth experience for everyone on board.
We recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance. This allows sufficient time for operator approval, veterinary health certificates, and any destination-specific paperwork. For international relocations or travel to countries with stricter regulations, earlier planning is advisable. That said, we can often accommodate shorter timelines, just get in touch and we'll do our best.
Private jets offer a much calmer environment than commercial flights, with no crowds, no loudspeaker announcements, and significantly less noise. You can bring familiar items like their favourite blanket or toy to help them feel at home. For pets prone to anxiety, we recommend consulting your vet about calming solutions before travel. Many pets settle quickly once airborne.
Private aviation offers far more flexibility than commercial airlines. We've arranged flights for pets of all sizes and breeds, including larger dogs that would never be permitted in a commercial cabin. For exotic animals, additional permits may be required depending on the species and destination. Contact us with the details and we'll let you know what's possible.
We understand that accidents can happen, especially during travel. It's completely normal and nothing to worry about. Please be aware that any damage to the aircraft interior caused by pets may result in additional cleaning or repair fees charged by the aircraft operator. We recommend taking preventive measures such as protective covers and ensuring your pet has relieved themselves before boarding.
Some operators may apply a small surcharge for pet travel to cover additional cabin preparation and post-flight cleaning. We'll always be transparent about any extra costs before you confirm your booking.
Tips for Flying with Your Pet
A little preparation goes a long way. Here's how to make sure your pet has the best experience possible.
-
Prepare Early
Start gathering documents well in advance. Schedule vet appointments for health certificates, vaccinations, and any required tests. Some documents have strict validity windows.
-
Crate Training
Even though your pet won't need to stay in a crate on a private jet, having them comfortable in a carrier can help during transfers. Familiarise them with it weeks before the trip.
-
Feeding & Hydration
Feed your pet a light meal 3-4 hours before the flight to avoid nausea. Bring fresh water and their usual food for longer trips. Avoid introducing new foods on travel day.
-
Bring Comfort Items
Pack their favourite blanket, toy, or bed. Familiar scents reduce stress and help your pet settle quickly in new surroundings. A well-worn t-shirt of yours works wonders too.
-
Exercise Before Boarding
Give your pet a good walk or play session before heading to the terminal. A tired pet is a calm pet. Ensure they've had a bathroom break just before boarding.
-
Long-Haul Essentials
For flights over 4 hours, pack extra supplies: absorbent pads, waste bags, additional water, and treats. Consider a calming supplement recommended by your vet for longer journeys.
